New oneworld 'Visit Asia Pass' completes the alliance's global coverage

26 April 2001

oneworld™ now covers the globe with its unique Visit Passes extended to Asia, making air travel for visitors to the continent easier and better value than ever - with savings of more than 50 per cent on many flights.

Travellers buy a oneworld Visit Asia Pass in conjunction with a longhaul flight to the continent. The Visit Pass can be tailored around their specific travel requirements, covering just two flights - or more as needed.

Passengers can travel on flights operated by any of the four oneworld members flying between cities in this region - Cathay Pacific Airways, Qantas, British Airways or Finnair - serving 20 destinations in 12 countries: Hong Kong; Delhi and Mumbai, India; Denpasar, Jakarta and Surabaya, Indonesia; Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka and Tokyo, Japan; Seoul, Korea; Kuala Lumpur and Penang, Malaysia; Karachi, Pakistan; Cebu and Manila, Philippines; Singapore; Colombo, Sri Lanka; Taipei, Taiwan; and Bangkok, in Thailand.

Prices - which are quoted in US dollars, converted to the currency of the country where the ticket is bought - depend on the number of flights required and the length of each flight, start at US$130.

A typical itinerary might be: Hong Kong-Tokyo (US$250); Tokyo-Hong Kong (US$250); Hong Kong-Bangkok (US$140); Bangkok-Singapore (US$130). This gives a total of US$770 for this four sector journey - a saving of more than 50 per cent (US$824) against the regular best buy schedule fare of US$1,594.

The launch of the oneworld Visit Asia Pass follows the highly successful introduction of the oneworld Visit Europe Pass last summer - and the Visit North America, South America, Africa and Australasia Passes earlier this year, the first tickets of their kind from any global airline alliance.

Notes to editors

1 Prices quoted do not include passenger taxes, fees or charges.

2 oneworld Visit tickets are not available for sale within the continent to which they apply. For instance, Visit Asia tickets cannot be bought in Asia - passengers must buy them before they travel to Asia, in conjunction with return intercontinental flights to Asia.

3 Children aged 11 or under pay 75 per cent of the adult fare, and infants, aged less than two, pay 10 per cent.

4 For full details, travellers should contact a sales office of any oneworld member airline. Specific terms and conditions apply to each Visit product.
